Answer
Hi Jazzy

The only expertise I have on this subject is something that a friend did when he faced the same problem.  I am not an expert on domestic animals, only farm animals, however, he - first, never looked the dog in the eyes.  Second, when he was around the dog, he moved slowly, and let the dog get used to him, little by little, never petting or forcing the dog to become friends.  He would sit in the same room as his owner (you) and just ignore him.  Eventually the dog got used to him.  If you have to tie him up to keep him from attacking your partner, then do that, but always, always, have your boyfriend move slowly and never try to pet or interact with him.  He will eventually calm down.

Good luck!
