Question
Hi. I'm a student at Downing Middle School and I would like to ask you a few questions on animal rights.

-Why should animals have rights?
-How many animals are experiencing cruelty?
-Why do people abuse animals?
-Would animals having rights affect the world?

I would be very glad if you could answer back to me before May 15.
        Thank you,
         Alexis

Answer
1. They shouldn't have rights.
2. Depends on your definition. By mine, a lot less than animal rights activists think.
3. The reasons vary, often it's due to misplaced anger or misplaced love.
4. If animals were given rights we would lose the ability to eat them, we would lose the ability to protect them from extinction, and more people would die.
