Animal Rights/class speech

When people stand against animal testing, others would think of them as sensitive and compassionate. But what they do not think of is the great advantages that animal testing will cause. When a person says that animal testing is a bad and cruel thing, he/she doesn’t think of the kinds of food that he/she eats. Most of the foods people eat these days are animals, and no one ever thinks that this is a cruel thing to do. When talking about animal testing, think about the great and massive medical effects it will have on humans in the future.

Many people believe that animal testing is one of the most remarkable thing that people can do to protect themselves from the enevitable. One does not know is the genetic make up of an animal is entirely different than a human which in effect could make a false judgement on a product that SEEMS safe to the animal but could be the most deadly to humans. Look up Vioxx and how many people have been misled to be safe, but in return killed HUNDREDS of people. Let alone, the hundreds of other drugs out there which caused much damage but I will refrain to list because there are so many. And how about Penicillin which is the most remarkable finding that could have saved Hundreds to thousands of people WAY before they found out that it was a "wonder", but was inconclusive because it did absolutely nothing in animals. Penicillin was actually tossed but was found again by accident.......
There are many effective alternatives to animal testing, and you will never get a 100% positive result from animal testing because of the genetic make up.. Nothing is "close enough" to a human. You either are or you are not.

Just so you know, using wikipedia degrades your credibility as a speaker. It should never be used as a viable source.

I belive testing any type of drug or product on an animal is unnecessary . Animals can have way different reactions to a drug then a human. I agree that a product that can be totally safe on a animal can kill or harm us humans. Animals should have rights, and those rights should include living.
