Questionhi,i am rahul.Rihgt now I am about to complete my bachelor's degree in computer science engineering at bangalore.I spend my 5 years in it.my age is 23years.Actually I am not interested in programing & technical parts.I want to do my master's degree in graphics design and visual effects.which has to be less technical and more creative.I m good in drawing.
I want to know which degree (means MS/ARTS/etc)they are providing in India and also in abroad. which courses are good for me....and I know i have wasted my 5 years. But i m not interested in that. I m only interested in graphics, animation and visual effects field which is non-technical or based on C & C++...I have searched about it.But they are providing Master of Arts degree.I m confused about it because after doing engineering...Masters in Arts degree will be not good for any student what you think? plz...reply me
thanks in advance..
Answerhi rahul, sorry i am not too familiar with academic programs in india, so i'm not sure exactly which one to recommend to you. however, i would select a program that gives you extensive hands-on exposure to 3d-animation and modeling programs such as Maya, Softimage, and/or Cinema 4D. also, you will need to learn about compositing and 2d animation tools, like After Effects. and, of course, you need to know all the outs and ins of Photoshop and Illustrator.
the software above will give you the practical know-how to get work in the industry, and also expose you to different parts of the industry so you can decide exactly what you want to focus on. i think you should also take courses that expose you to traditional animation, filmmaking, painting, mixed media, and any other arts that you are interested in.
by the way, i don't think your computer science engineering studies are a total loss. you may find interesting ways to combine your talents with animation, such as being a technical director.
good luck!
