Question
Sir,My name is Nandan %26 i am 19 yrs old.I am currently doing animation from a reputed institute. They are not giving so much importance to sketching. But i am totally in sketching. They are always talking about digital animation %26 many more things. Some times i feel that i did some mistake by joining this institute.U tell me that my decision is correct or I should move to some place where sketching is given 1st priority? and tell me that can i make my carrier with the help of sketching?

Answer
Sketching is still important, even for digital animators, as well as many other artistic fields. If you enjoy it that is a wonderful advantage, many people are not as skilled at hand drawing, but if they are suggesting that sketching is unnecessary or even wrong I would strongly disagree with them. I can't tell you what to do, but you may feel more comfortable in hand drawn mediums, like an illustrator. You should know however that there are not many professions left where hand drawing is the only form of creation, everything is highly dependent on computers now. Your interest and ability in sketching is definitely a plus and should help you in an artistic or creative drawing field...

good luck
