Hi. I saw this anime when I was a kid, and I'd really like to know what it was. My memory is kind of fuzzy, but i'll do my best to remember details.

It was around 1997/8 when I saw it, my friend lent it to me on VHS PAL (I'm in the UK). It was definatly a film.

It was in the old 80's style of Anime, similar to Ranme 1/2, with the big puffy hair and such.

The story revolved around a man and a woman (possible brother and sister), who didn't like each other, in a post-apocalyptic world. Everything was desert and ruins. They had swords, as far as I can remember, and they made a blood pact to work together by biting each other's thumbs. They where stood on a sand coloured mountain at this point. One of them had long red straight hair.

I think the cartoon was intended for adults as there was quite alot of blood/gore, and my puny child brain couldn't really fathom what was going on.

There was very possibly a wolf-mecha type thing involved as well.

This is definitely out of my league. Especially since it's programming was in the UK at the time. But, what you've described sounds familiar in some way.  My suggestion, go to Yahoo Answers and make yourself an account there and ask the masses. Someone will surely figure it out. My other suggestion is to go to wikipedia.com and type in 1998 anime. Go through the list to see if it looks familiar, if nothing does, go backward from there. You've actually got me curious now. Let me know if anything looks like what you're thinking about.
