Question
trying to find the name of Star Wars influenced anime movie around 1977-79. The only thing I remember is the main character had a Klingon shaped ship and he he had a robot drone that helped him command his ship. He was sort of a free lance renegade. But he comes to help some rebel fighters at the end of the movie. The movie was a hit in theaters. Well, at least in NYC.

Answer
From the details you gave me, I could only deduce that the series you may be talking about is Space Battleship Yamato.

Hope that helps, otherwise I don't think any other series I've heard of matches your description. Good Luck on your hunt, and I hope that I've found or at least brought you closer to your answer.

I can answer many questions such as who voice acted for such and such, or when did blah blah air first in America, or perhaps, can I get a review on this anime, or when will this anime come out. I`m happy to answer any and all questions to the best of my knowledge and online research. I've watched and read series from the ever popular Sailor Moon and Naruto to practically unknown titles such as Detroit Metal City and Tokyo Marble Chocolate. If I haven't heard of the anime I'll still do what I can to help you in your search.
