I live in Rifle CO and planted my petunias May 9th.  Their leaves are now starting to turn light green -- Not yellow, but light green as if they are getting too much or too little of something.  Can you help?  Thank you in advance;-)

Light green or yellow leaves are usually an indication of too much water. The excess water in the soil saturates the roots making it difficult for them to absorb nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and iron.

Petunias only need 1" of water per week; more if conditions exceed 85F with no rain. You should also amend the soil with organic materials such as humus, compost, and aged manure. Finally, I would supplement the feeding with a water-soluble fertilizer with iron. This will help restore the dark color to the foliage.
