Question
I live in Oklahoma city. An oblong planter box of beautiful red impatients, loaded with blooms, sits under a bench on a shaded porch facing the east. Not one bloom has opened!!!  What do I do? Thanks!!!!

Answer
Apply a fertilizer high in phosphorus and low in nitrogen. Phosphorus is the second number of the three listed on the front of the package; nitrogen is the first. Nitrogen promotes lush foliage while phosphorus is needed for blooming.

Also, do not over water. Only water when the top 2" of soil has completely dried out. Mulch the soil with shredded leaves or bark. This will help retain moisture and cool the soil.

I hope this information helps. Please write again if I can ever provide assistance.

Regards,

Mike
