Congratulations on trying to recover!

Unfortunately, when you begin to try to eat a 'normal' diet again, your body tends to retain water, and your digestive system may not be working to its full potential.  This means that you may bloat, and may gain water weight, and possibly lose some due to fluctuations in water weight.

Be honest with your Doctor, tell them exactly what has been going on.  Your weight suggests that you have a problem, but even if you weren't underweight, you have been brave enough to own up to a problem that many people can't, and that should be enough!  Any Doctor worth their title should offer you some help for this!

I hope that your appointment has gone well!  If you need or want to ask anything else, please come back!

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
