Question
hi.i am kitty 19 years old...i hope you can help me with this...i don't know what to do when i am in depression or under pressure or something like that i just cannot prevent myself from eating...i eat more than four meals with a lot of snacks...and sometimes i cannot eat anything...i hardly can eat one of my meals...i am asking, what should i do in order not to be like that coz i know this is not a healthy thing...thanks

Answer
This is typical of emotional eaters to eat large quantities of food and then go through periods of not eating. I had learned from having been a person who was an emotional eater that it wasnt healthy. Have you considered counseling to work through the issues that drive you to this pattern of eating or non-eating. I would go on this website called something-fishy.org and look up resources for counseling to help you deal with these issues. Issues that are long term need to be dealt with in a therapy program to help you better understand why you're this way. This can also help you to begin to establish a healthier way to live. I know that an eating disorder is a prison for women and trying to free yourself of that is a challenge and a journey to begin understanding how to finally live again.
