Question
Gerri
I am 50 years old, good health bit with abdominal obesity.
Its not really fat-it just sticks way out like a pregnant lady.
I have accepted the fact its probably genetic as my Dad's side has this trait, but I would still like to get a few belt notches down just because its uncomfortable.
I walk a lot and I eat healthy-lots of fibre,no junk. I actually eat less calories than the recomended daily intake.
I take ginger, probiotics, and digestive enzymes which help, but lately I was thinking of cutting out the meat and going semi vegetarian.
All my uncles that have this trait were also big 'meat and potato' guys. Two have  IBS and one recently died of colon cancer.Could we be 'meat intolerant'?
Also,an east Indian naturopath I spoke to said to limit the meat as that was the problem.
Any thoughts appraciated!

Answer
I don't know if cutting your calories is a good idea. Have you been to a nutritionist? One might be able to help.

I'm sorry that I was not more help on this question, but specific questions about weight are not my expertise. I really am more helpful when someone wants to deal with the emotional side of overeating or restricting food and functionally dealing with it.

If you would like a complimentary coaching session, I'd be happy to oblige. You might also try Overeaters Anonymous, at www.oa.org.
Sincerely,
