Anorexia/Eating Disorders/After Bulimia

Question
I have battled bulimia on and off since I was about 15. I recently have had a reoccurrence and have been able to stop myself now for the last 3 weeks. However, in the last three weeks I have also gained weight about 10 pounds. I am very worried. Is this common right after you stop a pattern of purging. I tried to do a calorie calculator to keep track of my calorie intake but, I feel like it is making me focus even more on food. I'm not sure what to do.

Answer
You are right... calorie counting can make the obsession about weight and food worse for some people. I would concentrate more on eating 6 small meals today... healthy foods, not junk. Yes, weight gain is common after stopping disordered eating behaviors. Once you start eating regular meals again your body should adjust and settle at the appropriate weight for you.
