Question
Hi,
I've had anorexia for about 4 years and for the past 7 months have been able to maintain a weight of B.M.I 15. I'm seventeen and thinking of university, all i want to do is medicine but I'm worried that having an eating disorder will mean i wont be accepted. Is this true?
I would really appreciate your help.

Answer
Your medical issues won't stop you from getting into medical school, but you want to get your eating disorder in check before applying because looking the appearance of a healthy person is what medical school professors will look at. Since you have experience with eating disorders you should consider a field of medicine to help treat and counsel those with eating disorders. Look at your height and weight for your age and that should tell you what your Body Mass Index should be and stick to that. Right now you're still in high school focus on getting yourself healthy before you think about your life after your university undergrad years.
