Anorexia/Eating Disorders/Recovery Process

QuestionHi, i've just begun my recovery from anorexia and i'm concerned at the rate i'm
gaining weight. I've gained 3kg in 6 weeks but not changed my habits to such an
extreme. I still run 10 km every day and have started weight training in an effort
to gain muscle. I also get bloated no matter what I put in my body even water.
What can I do to stop the bloating and slow down my weight gain?
AnswerYour body is in recooperation and recovery mode so you're going to see things like rapid weight gain and bloating. That will subside in time when your body gets used to eating again. Most of what you see is what your body is trying to compensate for when you were not eating. When you have a healthy eating pattern your body can naturally regulate itself, but when you're not eating for long extended periods your body compensates and that can throw off your body chemistry causing weight gain and other things to happen. If you're concerned with that go see your doctor to make sure that you're ok and that what you're going through is a normal part of recovering from anorexia.
