Question
I was wondering if eating a half of a  grapefruit and a 35 calorie yogurt a day with 2 protein shakes  that are not meal replacements healthy? or would that be considered an eating disorder?  thanks

Answer
Susan-  I'm confused whether or not the yogurt and protein shakes are meal replacements or your meals.  If someone includes a yogurt or protein shake as a meal replacement because they are busy or would otherwise skip breakfast or something as they run out the door in the morning, or if someone is of a healthy weight or overweight and are eating something like that as a way to eat fewer calories than they otherwise would if they were to have a large meal, then it is fine.   If you are eating those items instead of a meal and are not at a healthy weight, then it would be considered disordered eating.  There are certain criteria someone must meet for it to be considered a true eating disorder by the medical field.  There are many cases of disordered eating, however, that do not meet the true criteria but are still problematic.  it depends about the presence of other symptoms as well.
