Question
i had anorexia for about 5 months. i have been in recovery for just over 2 months and am gaining weight. i used to train for cross country(approx.60km/week) and tennis(4-5 times/week)
i really enjoyed it but i was wondering if i can start training again now? its really frustrating not being able to!!!!

Answer
Shan- I am concerned that your desire to train again is a way to continue weight control/reduction in a way that might be "acceptable" since you have been giving up your previous behaviors to control your weight.  If you truely want to begin training again and it's not just a stealth attempt to control weight, I would say go for it.  If you want to train because you love training then that's ok.  I would check with my doctor though and make sure you are physiologically ok to begin... sometimes those with eating disorders can cause their heart to have funky rhythms.  You could be at risk if you are experiencing this.  So check with your doctor and see what he/she thinks.  Otherwise, enjoy being active... just make sure you are doing it for love of sport and not to try to control weight.
