Anorexia/Eating Disorders/Symptoms?

Question
How many of the anorexia symptoms do you need to have to be anorexic, and which ones? (my friend may have anorexia.)

Answer
Bella- the diagnostic criteria is:

-refusal to maintain body weight above 85% of expected weight for height and age

-intense fear of gaining weight even though they are underweight

-denial of seriousness of low weight and body image disturbance

-amenorrhea for 3 months in women who have previously had a menstrual cycle

there are 2 subtypes as well, restricting and bing eating and purging

there is also a diagnosis called EDNOS or eating disorder not otherwise specified. That is for someone who is in real danger of health risk but does not meet the exact criteria for a diagnosis based on the above definition.

Hope this helps
