Question
Hello Rev. Ke'ala Richardson,
Currently I am living in Oahu Hawaii right now and am struggling.  I first started throwing up when I was 16 when I discovered that if I overate I could just throw it up and it would not affect me.  I am now 26 and have done this off and on since I was 16, I need help...I can't stop and it seems lately within the last 6 months it has gotten worse to the point that I do it at least once a day if not more...my husband found out I was doing this when I was 21 and I told him I have stopped but I didn't just slowed down till now...I am so scared that I am hurting myself beyond repair but more scared of sharing this with anyone.  Just wanting to know what I can do and if there is a place here in Oahu that can help me?

Scared and confused,
Candy Shire

Answer
Aloha, I think there are a couple of places that try to deal with eating disorders but I don't know their methods or could actually reccommend any of them. We have a wonderful holistic program here on the Big Island of Hawaii outside of Hilo. Please go to http:eating-disorder-recovery.com and check out our programs which are done with aloha and not judgement. You  can call me at 1-888-967-8622 and we can talk about it.
ONe thing you have probably realized by now is, it doesn't go away on it's own. What ever the reason you began or still continue to hurt yourself we can help you find it,deal with it and learn from it and let it go so you can begin to live a healthy happy life.
It will not be an easy journey but one well worth the effort of saving yourself from a life of misery.
