Anorexia/Eating Disorders/Eating more without regaining

Question
Hello,

About three months ago I began eating minimal calories relatively suddenly
(over the course of two weeks) and went to about 200 for a period of a month
or so, for the most part i hovered between 200-300 while working out for
long periods of time all throughout. I have love 32 lbs and I am happy with
the way I look and still excercising. I am eating around 500 calories a day
now and paying special attention to my vitamins, nutrients, and balanced
meals. (The whole time I was paying attention to my nutrients, making sure I
always got a full supply for the day). I am wondering if there is a likelihood
that I will gain weight back if I continue to excercise the way I do if I slowly
reintroduce calories (about 30-50 every 3 days) if I am still making smart
food choices? I know I need to eat more, I just want to do it the right way
because I do not want to "freak out" and revert back to my old habits. On a
last note, I have moved up to 500 for the past two weeks relatively suddenly
and have continued to lose another 2 lbs or so. Where do you think I will
"max out" before I start gaining again?

Thank you!

Answer
I really, REALLY hate to say this, but chances are you're going to not only regain everything you lost, but 20% MORE weight. AND your metabolism will be sluggish, sometimes lasting for years!  I've done this 'starvation' diet myself, a few times (quite a few), plus practiced bulimia (every form of it) and my weight ballooned to nearly 200lbs while I was eating next to nothing!

PLEASE don't make my mistakes (it's why I'm at this board)

You may think you're getting 'vitamins/nutrients' from a pill or supplement, but the body needs to process actual foods and roughage, whole grains, vegetables/legumes/nuts or the problems are going to be a whole lot more than 'fat'.

Expertise

I have lived it and survived it. I know every excuse, reason, thought, feeling and rationalization - and I'm going to be very honest in my advice.

Experience

I've lost (& gained)HUNDREDS of lbs over a lifetime, more than 30 years of "professional dieting". Presently a counselor for sufferers of eating disorders, a nutritional advisor and spiritual counselor (Reverend, doctor); I've been on every diet there is and used the most bizarre weight loss products you can imagine. I am FORMERLY obese, anorexic (several times), bulimic MOST of the time - and maintaining size 4, with no gimmicks, devices, programs, pills or supplements.

I currently investigate the diet industry on behalf of consumers who do not need to be ripped off while struggling to be healthy. I WILL expose them all and I WON'T be intimidated, bullied or bought. My advice is for cost-free options. I have nothing whatsoever to gain from my recommendation(s). I make no money from my website and I sell, promote, endorse NO diet/health products, programs or devices. You'll also never see me on the receiving end of a hidden camera report...but you can be assured, I won't quit until I've exposed those who are out to take advantage of you.

It's a matter of choices. We need to stop complicating things.
