Anorexia/Eating Disorders/Exercise?

Question
Thankyou for your advice on doing exercise.

I haven't been exercising much because I am scared that it will make me lose
the weight I've tried so hard to put on, and that I might start exercising
excessively.

So I was just wondering how much exercise you think would be appropriate ...
and which is the best sort of exercise to do ...

I already do yoga for one and a half hours a week, but perhaps this is not
enough to tone up and get some nice muscles?

Any advice and suggestions would be very, very, very welcome!

Answer
I would recommend little cardio - after all, that is used to burn fat and lose weight in most cases.  Focus on resistance training.

Do some cardio and stretching in order to warm yourself up, but then spent most of your time using machines aimed at strengthening muscle.  I'm not suggesting hard-core weight-lifting or anything, but setting resistance machines to a weight that you can do a number of repetitions with, but struggle slightly, but not so heavy that you are hurting yourself!

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
