Anorexia/Eating Disorders/'Unsure'

Question
Thank you for replying. The problem is that i stopped eating lunch when i was about 14, at schools i was too interested in  playing netball at lunch and now i just don't get hungry. I think my parents do know. When i was at secondary school my parents were contacted about my weight. Instead of trying to help me they ridicule it. if someone offers me some chocolate, for example, and i say no, they will make remarks like, "oh yeah she might put on a pound!" and they used to call me names like Anna (for anorexia) and things like that. Now you know why I can't tell them properly! They don't ask me why i am the way that i am or what is bothering me so it can be fixed. They deal with it by laughing at it really. Thank you for taking the time to read these.

Answer
I think that you need to find someone that you feel comfortable talking to, it's not fair that you should have to try and deal with this alone.

Is there another family member, or a friend, or teacher for example, that you can talk to?

Can you go to a Doctor without your parents knowledge?  I think that you need to try to find real-time help, as eating disorders are far too hard to fight alone.

Is there anyone you think could get it through to your parents just how bad things are for you, and could maybe tell them just how dangerous things could be for you?

Please try to think if there is anyone you can share this with!

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
