Answer -
Anorexia is not so much about how much you weigh, or what you look like, but the way you think and the behaviours that you follow!

120lbs seems like a low or normal weight depending on your height, but I can't work that out because you have mentioned your height.

What do you think when you look in the mirror?  Do you do anything to change what you think about yourself?

What about eating?  What is a normal day's eating like?

What do you think being thinner will gain you?  Why do you want to be thinner?

Is there anything else going on for you?  How are things at home?  Do you like school?

Think about these questions, answer them honestly and then come back to me and I'll help you decide what to do from there!

Answer
I think the best thing that you can do - rather than lose weight - is to do quite a bit of exercising and tone up your muscles!  Well-defined muscles look a lot better than bones!

I think that you should try talking to your parents and tell them how you are feeling.  You are not overweight, so don't need to lose weight and the best thing you can do is try and find someone that you can confide in and talk to about how are feeling.

If you really think that this may be becoming a serious eating disorder, I recommend talking to someone you trust and maybe getting them to help you make a Dr appointment and discuss this with your Dr - they may be able to point you in the direction of someone that is trained to help you realise that your body is good the way that it is!

Please come back if you need someone to talk to, or have other questions

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
