Question
hello.   i have struggled with anorexia for 12 yrs and have been in recovery for three.  my low weight was 52 lbs.  Experts have told me that my body will continue to store food for fear of being  starved.  i'm going to the bathroom normally, or so it seems to me, but am still bloated.  Is it normal for it to take this long??  i know my weight was severley low, but it's been three years!   thank you, tammi

Answer
Hi Tammi, It is great to hear that you are on the road to recovery. What is your current weight? Have you abused laxatives, and if so, how long ago did you stop? If you had abused laxatives for any length of time, you may have damaged your intestinal tract. You may or should have an upper and lower GI series and possibly a scope if the abuse was severe. If you have not had this checked out, talk to your physician and ask him if which tests he thinks that you should have done to be sure there is not any damage.  Please leave me some feedback, a nomination (if you please), and follow-up by telling me a bit more about your situation, and I can probably advise you better. I am here for you anytime, so feel free to write back. How tall are you?  At 52lbs. you should have your heart checked as well. My heart was permanently damaged and I was only down to 89 lbs at 5'5". I commend you for the work you are putting into your recovery. Keep up the good work and do keep me posted. Thanks. Regards, Susan
