Question
Hi, My name is steff and i'm 22! I've had problems with eating 'normally' since i was 15 but now things seen to have got totally out of control i either don't eat which would be all the time if i could get away with it, or when made to eat i make myself sick and use laxatives which i take at least 10 plus a day! I know all of this is wrong my boyfriend wants me to get help but i don't think im skinny enough to get taken seriously by a doctor, im 5.6 and weigh eight stone! What shall i do?

Answer
YOu are in a serious eating disorder and doing some pretty major damage to your intestines with the laxative abuse. If you continue over using laxatives your bowels may never learn to work on their own again, so you would be addicted to laxatives for the rest of your life. Think about it.
If you don't think you are skinny enough for anything you are in major denial, so you need help but don't want it. You haven't gotten ill enough to know you are ill, but indeed you are. You have let seven years of your life be controlled by this disease, only you can make the effort to try and help yourself. Everyone will try to help you because they know you are ill but until you face that fact you are lost to the illness. Yes you are sick, get help, but will you? Will you let yourself be fooled by this sickness over and over again, probably but it is up to you to seek help or the help will do you no good.
We have some great self help tips on our web http://www.healthretreats.info to get you started. But the first thing you need to do is admit you are sick.
Best of luck and hopefully you will save yourself and your friends and loved ones, your life.
