Question
I have participated in anorexic and bulimic behavious since i was 10, and am now 17. when i was 14, i experienced severe weight loss in a very short period of time, making me underweight and my periods stopped.I also had OCD at the time.I needed to see a dietician, and although not diagnosed, i realise now that i nmay have had anorexia.after two years of 'freedom', i experienced some trouble in my personal life, and have reveretd back to my erratic eating behaviours. in less than three months, i have lost 15lbs, and a lot of people are worried about me. I am not sure if i have 'relapsed' or not, but know that i have serious issues with food, and am purging after eating just 500kcals etc sometimes. Do i have an eating disorder? how can i get help? Im really scared of people's reactions if i seek it!

I think it does sound as though you have some sort of eating disorder, and I would definitely recommend trying to get some help for this as soon as possible!

You need to approach someone that you feel you can talk to, and tell them the truth!  If you feel you can go to your Dr, great!  If not, does your school have a counsellor or guidance teacher, or even just a teacher that you feel that you can talk to?

I think that you just need to find someone that you can talk to.  Just ask for help!  It will be nerve-wracking, embarrassing and may be very hard to come out with, but it is so worth it!  So I beg you to try!

Please come back if you have anything else you would like to ask!

All the best

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
