Anorexia/Eating Disorders/How long?

Question
Hello, I was just wondering if you knew how long it takes for the
effects of anorexia to disappear. I was anorexic for about a year
last year, where I would eat about 900 calories a day. I only lost
about 20 pounds, but I think it damaged my metabolism
significantly. Anyway, just wanted to know if you could tell me
how long it takes for the body to "fix" it's metabolism, if it does
at all. I'm a little overweight now, and I'm wondering when I can
just be normal again. Thanks for any help.

Answer
ALoha, well it depends on what you have been doing to heal your body. Anorexics usually need at least a year of high protein high fat intakes to repair damage done to tissues especially adrenal glands. I would suggest looking at our site and doing the food combining method of eating, it will help your body digest your food properly and will also help your body trust you again so your metabolism will return to normal. You didn't get sick overnight and the effects of your illness will not go away overnight. But be steady and moderate and it will all be fine. Everything in moderation, love your self and be kind and generous with yourself and the rest will take care of itself. ALoha Keala
