Question
i was wondering what the most common age for woman to get an eating disorder is...like 13 to 20 or somthing like that and also what is the percentage of men who have eating disorders???  you never see any pictures of men who are so skinny they look like they couldnt support their own body weight...so if you know i would love to hear back from you. thanks.

Answer
Of all reported eating disorders, 10% are in males.  That is not 10% of males have one, but 10% of eating disorders are found in males.

Eating disorders are usually found in the age group 15-25 or there abouts, but there are cases of younger children having one, as is there stories of many middle aged women.  Often it is bulimia that is found in older women as it goes much more easily unfound!

Hope this helps!

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
