Anorexia/Eating Disorders/I've been mad hungry

Question
I can't explain it but I just have been mad hungry as of late, and have been scarfing down a lot food. It seems like this condition comes bout 2- 3 times a year. I'm just an average dude, 6"0 165, pretty decent shape,I dont throw up my food or any of that crap, But it seems like I just been going on some eating binges fiending for some food, like a crackhead or something and just tearing the food up like a dog. Is this normal?

Answer
I don't think that it is normal!  Is there a certain time of the year that you do it?  A reason that you would be stressed, or something that you want to forget or anything?

How is your diet the rest of the time?  Is there foods that you don't eat, or nutrients that you are missing in your diet?  If your body thinks that it is missing something, sometimes it takes over and things like binges do happen!

If this does not apply, I think that you should go and speak to a Dr and see what they suggest.  Maybe there is a reason for this, maybe there are issues that need to be dealt with, physically or psychologically.

I hope that this has helped.  If not, or you have other questions, please feel free to come back.

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
