Anorexia/Eating Disorders/water retention?

QuestionHi Holly
I wrote to you a few days ago about my recovery but I'm really freaking out
now. I was maintaining my weight perfectly for about 3 weeks, even with a bit
of weight loss,,now for the past 10 days I have suddenly gained about 1-2
pounds and its consistent..it is the week before my period and I've read that
you can retain water during this time? could it be that or have i put on
weight? I haven't been eating any more than i was in the previous weeks...i
thought that it might be water retention but surely it wouldn't last so long (10
days!!) I haven't got my period yet though..please help,,Im really feaking and
want to start restricting again..its so discouraging!
AnswerPlease try to think about 1-2lbs in reality! It may seem a lot, but it really isn't!!!
There is a chance that this is water retention! Many people gain weight around their time of the month! I know that I do, and I tend to have it for about a fortnight - about a week before, and then during!
please try not to start restricing again! Wait until your period has passed and then review the situation, but restricting will still not be the answer!
All restricting does is put your body into starvation mode, making you more likely to gain more weight when you do eat and your body switches into survival mode and stores what it can in fear of being starved again!!!
Please just hold off trying to lose weight, and allow this to try and settle itself naturally!
