Question
hey
ive had lots of issues with my eating for some years now, i am 15 and started off with being 11 stone and not too unhappy. I got bullied and started binge eatin, i started to put weight on so started running. A year later i am petrified of eatin more than 1000 calories a day, take laxatives quite alot, do over 35 miles a week and im now down to 9 stone in 2 months. I have seen a councellor but i dont get on with her and cant talk about my feelings with anyone. I dont know what to do because its making me feel suicidal. Ive been on periods of no eatin but im always too ill so i just eat 600 calories a day instead.
please get back to me- i need some help x

Answer
Lindsey!

Please get help soon!

Restricting your food intake, and abusing laxatives is just building health problems for yourself in the future!

The fact that this makes you feel suicidal means that you really need to speak out and get real-time help as soon as possible.

If you are not getting on with your counsellor, look for another!  Are there counsellors at school that are available for you to talk to, a teacher, a friend or neighbour at all?

If you can't think of anyone that you can go to and ask for support, or even just for some help finding support, please approach your doctor and ask for referral to someone that has some experience with this!

Please get the help that you need, and deserve!  You are worth more than this eating disorder, and you just need some help to get back in control of it, be it therapy, or a set meal plan, etc.

Please feel free to get back in touch if there is absolutely anything that you would like to talk about or ask!

All the best
Holly

Expertise

I am a medical student and have suffered from anorexia and bulimia myself, I am willing to answer questions based on my own experiences. My advice, however, should not be used as a substitute for that of a qualified medical professional.

Experience

I suffered from anorexia from the age of about 10. By the age of 13 I was suffering from bulimia. Now after 10 years of suffering from an eating disorder, I feel that I can say that I'm well on my way with recovery and would just like to be able to share what I have learned with those in similar situations!
