Anthropology/Documentary on African ancestors

Question
I saw a fantastic documentary on Discovery a year or two a go. An American or British scientist went to Africa to a tribe that was directly linked to the first humans on Earth.

He then started traveling outside of Africa, in the Middle East, down to Australia, into Europe, across Russia and into America and everywhere he went he randomly tested people's genes and found genes that was directly connected to those original African genes, thus dating when the person's ancestors populated that area of the world.

It was one of the best documentaries I have ever seen, and I can't get it out of my mind. Problem is I can't find back to it. I was wondering, do you by chance know the name of the scientist who did this or have you ever seen/heard of this documentary?

Answer
I think this is "Journey of Man".  The host was Spencer Wells, author of book of same name.  It is a National Geographic Society documentary.
Cheers,
John Shea

FWIW:  We are all descendants of those first humans, the African group in question just happens to be living in the same place as those early ancestors did.
