Question Can you tell the nationality of people from the middle east, say Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc by their face? If I showed you a picture of a person's face could you - or anyone else, tell which country that person came from?
Answer Hi Jeff,
Personally, I could not pin-point the exact nationality of a person of Middle Eastern decent. A lot of countries within that geographic region show similar and comparable patterns of facial features which makes it difficult to accurately identify the country of origin. Moreover, the Middle East is located right in between the Mediterranean and Southwest Asia; hence a person from Afghanistan can resemble a Greek or a Tajik.
Finally, the exact definition of “Middle East” is not conclusive, with some authors excluding or including certain countries within their definition.
Thanks for your question,
Zavier
