Anthropology/Polygamy

Question
Hi,

I'm doing a project on polygamy and I was wondering if you knew of any good sources of information I could use. I need to look at the pros and cons of polygamy, as well as what groups of people practise it and why people support/oppose it.

I've found two books on the subject, but they only seem to cover polyandry. Do you know of any that also cover polygyny and group marriage?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Chris,

There is a lot on the internet as well as several books written on the subject.  You can also look at Mormonism since they support polygamy as well as group marriage (in some cases). Also look up information on communes from the 1960's and 70's since many of these also supported various types of marriage (while veiwed as illegal, still occured).

Try going to "www.google.com" and put in "polygamy", "Polyandry" and Polygyny and read the articles that come up. Also go to www.amazon.com and see what books are available on these three subjects.

Let me know if I can help further.
