Question I just got interested in the field of Anthropology because I enjoy trying to examine ( try to understand) other people. And what I was even more interested in was the theological aspect of our daily lives. Because no matter if you're and believer of not, religion is all around you. Now my question is, what field would contain the studing of different cultures and their religious beliefs and effects on the human mind or persona... Wow I can really dound professional when I want to be eh?
Answer Dear Laura
The subfield of cultural anthropology includes comparative studies of different cultures' religions. If you want to learn more about this, you might look on Amazon or some similar such book vendor for college textbooks on the anthropology of religion or comparative religion. If you are in college, the kind of class you would take to pursue your interest would most likely be taught in anthropology or in religious studies.
This particular subject is not my area of expertise, but if you do a little searching you will get to experts on this topic very quickly.
Cheers,
John Shea
