Question
How long did it take you to graduate from college for an anthropolgy degree? And how long did it take to acually break into the field after you had your degree?

Answer
Hi Traci
4 years undergrad to get my BA (archaeology -Boston Univ.)
7 years after that to get my MA & Ph.D (anthropology -Harvard)  Harvard is unusual, -MA is just pro forma.  Typical time to MA is 2-3 years.
The national average for time to Ph.D. in Anthro is about 7 years if you already have MA degree in hand when you start.
I was hired for my first professional position when I was still a grad student, but got my first and current tenured position the year after I got my Ph,D.
Cheers,
