Question
Hi Steve,
I recently bought a cuckoo clock with the wrong size weights(1500 grms)too
heavy for this size clock.I put the weights on it from my 30 hr. clock and it
wouldn't work, when I tried one of the large ones it worked(it is stamped320
bu)320grms? My question would be is what size weights do I need? Both
clocks are the same size.
Regard's
Phil

My problem with used cuckoo clocks is that the owners usually give them up because after several years of use the clock is worn out. The 1500 gram weights may have pushed a worn out clock enough to run.
You said both clocks are the same size. If you mean the cases are the same size , that  is not what we are concerned with. There are many grades and sizes of cuckoo movements and the same goes with the weights that power them.
A  common 8 day cuckoo uses 1050 grams or 2 1/4 lbs..
A thirty hour or one day clock uses 275 grams or 5/8 lbs.
Your 320 gram weights weigh3/4 lb.
There are many in between sizes.
There are variables for music movements and dancer drives and platforms.
Anyway, back to your original question . If the clock runs and keeps time and the cuckoo strike is not too fast use the 3/4 lb weights.
