Question I recently had my Daneker grandfather clock shipped to Hawaii. Upon returning it to service I find that the hourly chime now only stikes once vice one strike for each hour of the time. I seem to recall that grandfather clocks have a mechanical option for having a single strike only, and I suppose that could have been inadvertently set when restarting. Any thoughts. Second question, same clock has moon phase dial, but it has two moon faces. One with a Stag in the background and another with a ship in the background. Why two and how would they be set? Thanks for your help.
Answer one strike is not an option. It did not like the trip. There are internal professional minor adjustments to be made on the front of the movement to the strike mechanism to correct the problem.
Either moon will do. the dial indexes one click per day and is only a pictoral representation of the moon in the sky- at present the moon is a waxing gibbus-- or looks between half and full and getting fuller- rotate the moon dial till you see 3/4 of the rising moon.
