Question
Hello Ken,
We have inherited an Ambassador by Daneker floor clock. Every time we go on vacation I stop the clock. When we return I reset the time but ALWAYS have trouble getting the chimes to match the time. I continue to move the minute hand around and around until finally by luck the chime matches the time. This last time we went away I cant seem to get it done no matter how hard I try! Is there a simple way to reset the time and chimes without all this grief? and do you have any idea what the age and worth is of this clock?
Answer 40 years old and I don't do appraisals.
the quarter chimes reset themselves on the hour when the full 16 notes of the Westminster tune is played followed by the hour strike.
No luck involved here. No matter what you do with the minute hand to reset the proper time (forwards or back) within one hour everything should be chiming and striking correctly. Set the time with the minute hand and walk away.
