Antique Clocks/Which is which to wind on a Sessions or Gilbert mantal clock

Question
We have both a Sessions and a Gilbert mantal clock.  Both have just two keyholes and both strike the hour and half hour.  Which keyhole winds which mechanism-timekeeping and striker?

Thank you

Answer
Generally speaking the left side is the chime side and the right is the time side on all mantle clocks.  Some wind counter clockwise and some wind clockwise.  You can let the chime side run down and not wind it if you do not like the chime.  If you do not wind the chime side it will not chime either the hour or half.
