Antique Musical Instruments/Antique Martin Sax

Question
I have an Antique Martin Sax that was given to me by a friend.  I do not play, and I know very little about them. but I've been told this one is in great shape.  The Serial Number is:  122638.  Any idea what type of sax this is?  Year made?

Answer
I can't tell you what size of sax it is by the serial number, but any sax player should be able to look at it and tell you what it is.  (Unless, it is a C Melody, which is more difficult to tell if you haven't been around them.)

However, the horn dates to 1937.

Martins are excellent saxes.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
