Question
Hello Mr. Scott,
I am a Rutgers student doing research on the National Musical String Company which at one time was owned by the men of C. Bruno and Son (The Bruno Company) which you have mentioned in your answers.  I am not sure if this is your area of expertise but if you could point me towards any literature on these companies or have any information you might like to share with me I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you.

-Chris

Answer
I don't know if this will help or not, but The Bruno Company was established in New York in 1834 In 1868, the Company used C. Bruno and Son as its name.

After the turn of the 20th Century, the company began using trade names including: Lafayette, Paris; Perfackton; Perfection; Henry Pourcelle, Paris; La Vesta; Vocotone, Klear Tone,Royal Artist, Special Grade

The company got a patent for a Method of Electroplating instruments #1548432 filed Feb 3, 1925, Issued Aug 4, 1925

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
