Question
I also learned on a borrowed Coronet. It is "The Regent" from the Ohio Band company with a serial number on the second valve. The number is 8191, can you tell when it was manufactured and the original purchase price. I just had it refurbished and it plays as well as the day I started playing it in 5th grade in 1962.

Answer
Information we have on Ohio Band Instrument Company wasthat it came into existance in the early 30's, based in Cleveland.

It was headed by F. A. Reynolds.  Reynolds formed his own company in 1936.

It appears that the company lasted until the mid 1940s.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
