Antique Musical Instruments/A. Hileron Cornet

Question
I have an A. Hileron Paris signed horn which, I believe, based on another post is a cornet.  It is beautiful in design, silver and signed on the bell.  What I would like to know is some history or dating.  When did they manufacture these horns?  Thank you.

Answer
There is no documentation on a company by this name, so it seems likely that it is a tradename rather than an actual manufacturer.  There was a company in Worchester, Mass. named, Gorham & Co. that sold them.  By the style of their horns, they were made in the late 1800s through the early 1900s.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
