Question My brother has a Buescher Baritone made in Elkhart, IN, seriel #22728. It looks like a miniture sousaphone so it is unlike any other baritone I've ever seen. Where would I find more information on its past history, instrument quality, tone quality, etc. as well as potential value?
Regards,
Dan Ryan
Answer That would be an unusual horn. It is sousaphone or helicon shaped?
It dates to 1913.
There were bands in the 1800s that used a range of helicon shaped instruments, from alto down, but this horn is newer than that.
Buescher made quality instruments, and being so unusual, it would certainly be a collectible.
