Question
hi, i have a silver plated trombone with lots of achievements engraved in the bell. the name antoine courtois & mille is included, i once contacted the company and they showed interest but i lost contact as it seems to be achievements of the founder or his successer.coould you point me in the right direction to find out more about it or contact the company? many thanks

Answer
Courtois tended to do that on a lot of their early instruments.  I guess it pays to advertise.  In addition to selling their instrument directly.  They also were marketed through other companies, such as J. Howard Foote.  You can find more information at:  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=Courtois

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
