Antique Musical Instruments/weymann trumpet

Question
Hi Kenton,
My name is Bob Eade from Macungie,PA. I have my Dad's old trumpet and I THINK it's rare. It's a Weymann trumpet from about 1935 with it's original case. I can find info on Weymann string instruments, but can't find any info on any
brass instruments made by them, or even ever saw another one. It is in good shape, the valves are a little slow, but I'm sure a good cleaning would fix that. It has "WEYMANN KEYSTONE STATE Phila." on the bell and 106741 on the side of the center valve. I would appreciate ANY info. THANK YOU! Bob

Answer
Bob,

Henry Weymann was in business in Philadelphia from 1864-1942. Starting in 1870, he advertised as a seller of musical instruments. In 1885, he started advertising as H. A. Weymann & Son. He used the name Keystone as a line of instruments in his later years of business.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
