Antique Musical Instruments/Antique Turville & Cie Paris baritone horn

Question
I would like to know the history of the company or anything applicable.  I have a family of brass instruments consisting of a tenor horn, a baritone horn (named above), an Eb bass horn.  They are all in the upright rain catcher style.  These were used in a brass band in my home town starting in the early 20s.  Possibly brought over with imigrants settling in a coal mining town.

Thank you for any information you can give me.

Answer
Hi Joe,

It is pretty cool that you have a set of the horns still together.  Historically, many horns were purchased in sets, but few of them remain together.

Tourville and Cie, however, was a tradename for instruments that were sold by Sears and Robuck.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
