Antique Musical Instruments/Maison Couturier Bugle

Question
My uncle recently showed me an old bugle that he found and bought from a local antique dealer. It's definitely a military bugle, and being a trumpet player myself, I'd like to see if I can find out some info on it.

The horn has a makers mark on the bell, "Maison Couturier, 1812". Written below the mark is written "Pelisson, Guinot & Blanchon" and under that "Lyon - Paris". I know that all of their horns have these markings, and I wish that I had a photograph of the bugle to share with you. I'm not very familiar with bugles so I couldn't tell you if it has any particularly striking features. It still has its old braid fastened to the crook of the horn.

Any information you might have about these bugles would be great, even if it is only a guide for me to find out more information!

Thanks,

Ryan

Answer
I'm having difficulties with my WEB site at the moment, but I can get you a list of bugles, with which to compare yours.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
