Antique Musical Instruments - Antique trumpet?

Expert: Kenton Scott - 11/13/2009

Question
I have a trumpet that was made by Ohio Band Instruments Co. From what I gather they only made a model called the Regent. This one says Grenadier on the bell, SN is 80378. Is this a rare model or what? Does it have any value? I have not been too succesful with my internet search. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Around 1936, Foster Reynolds, established both the Reynolds Band Instrument Company and the Ohio Band Instrument Company,  producing instruments in the same factory. Ohio Band exclusively sold to dealers in the school band market.  While the Regent was Ohio Band's primary instrument line; they  also made the Roth line,  Paramount, and Grenadier.

Ohio Band appears to have been discontinued sometime after Scherl & Roth bought F.A. Reynolds Co. in 1946.
